Autumnal Green Events

The month of September usually evokes certain emotions or images. For some, it’s the return to school, for others, it’s the feeling that fall is just around the corner. Often, for most people, September is a busy month as we transition from the lazy, warm summer months to the cooler, but still very pretty, autumn season.

Half of September is already behind us and soon, we’ll be basking in the festivities of Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the holiday season. But before we experience all of that, here are some great environmentally minded events being hosted within the GTA for the rest of September and early October.

A great workshop to learn and plan about different native plant gardens so that come spring season, you are ready to create your own natural native garden oasis. Free event.

Now entering its 17th year, the Annual Salamander Festival, hosted by Belfountain, ON, is a great way for kids and adults to learn more about salamanders. The event is free and hosts a myriad of events for everyone.

Ontario’s first Youth Bike Summit, this free event is a great way to introduce youth not only to the benefits of cycling, but also to current cycling initiatives happening in the GTA.

Like climbing things, renewable energy, and having fun with friends? Then Climb the Wind Turbine may be the event the environmentalist within you has been waiting for.
